st patrick's festival coatbridge 2010

Newsroom Staff
THE presence of many thousands of members of the Celtic family is central to St Patrick's celebrations and none more so than in Coatbridge where Scotland's biggest St Patrick's Festival takes place annually.

Last year Hoopy made an appearance as did well-known Celtic celebrity supporter, Tony Roper, aka Jamsie Cotter from Rab C Nesbit.

This year many Celts will enjoy around 10 days of festivities including lectures, plays, dances and concerts.

Celtic supporter JJ Gilmour is appearing at the town's Centre Point on Friday March 12, the British Premier of Jack Charlton's 'Italia 90 re-visited' is on the evening of Tuesday, March 16 at St Patrick's Church Hall.

The film, of course, includes action and interviews with such past Celtic players as Packy Bonner, Mick McCarthy and Chris Morris.

The final day is a celebration supreme in Coatbridge Main Street.

Last year 15,000 people attended the family festival and organisers are hoping to exceed even that figure this year.
