CELTIC are celebrating their ninth league title in a row, the second time in the club's history that this has been achieved. And we're celebrating some iconic moments from some of our most famous No.9s.

Today's moment of magic comes courtesy of Harald Brattbakk, on the day that we stopped the 10.

It remains one of the most important league title triumphs in Celtic’s history and it was one that the club had to win.

And as Neil Lennon’s side prepare for the forthcoming campaign and the chance to win 10 titles in a row, we look back on the day that Celtic ‘stopped the 10’ and Harald Brattbakk scored the goal which confirmed the Hoops as champions for the first time in 10 years.

Wim Jansen had been appointed at the start of the 1997/98 season, and there was one target for him and his squad – to win the league title and stop Rangers from securing their 10th title in a row.

The campaign didn’t get off to the best of starts, with back-to-back defeats in the opening two league fixtures of the campaign, but by the time it got to the penultimate weekend of the season, the Hoops knew that a victory over Dunfermline at East End Park would secure the title.

However, that match finished 1-1 and so it all went down to the final day of the season and a home game against St Johnstone.

Henrik Larsson opened the scoring early on for Celtic, but on an afternoon of unbearable tension at Paradise, Harald Brattbakk, on as a substitute for Simon Donnelly, fired home with 18 minutes remaining to put the Hoops 2-0 up, the title was on its way home.

The Norwegian striker, who joined Celtic from Rosenborg in December 1997, would score 20 goals in 60 appearances for the club, but none was as important as that goal against St Johnstone on May 9, 1998.

Speaking recently to the Celtic View podcast, Harald Brattbakk said: “I wish I could play that game every day for the rest of my life because that day was so special, especially when you think you what happened afterwards. Before the game and during the game, you were never sure what was going to happen. When I scored, we were pretty sure we were going to win it, because there was only 15 minutes to go.

“The run-up to the end of the season that year was amazing, and I’ve been able to look at some of the clips, and my mother has kept all the newspaper articles that were written around the time as well.

“It’s fun to look back at once in a while. I still can’t understand how big the league title was that year and also how important the run-in was. Everyone I talk to now, they’re still talking about it! I’m really fortunate to be able to be part of that story.”
