Leigh Griffiths helped Celtic salvage a draw at Pittodrie with a goal in the final seconds of the game. Celtic found themselves trailing midway through the first half and were unfortunate not to have levelled earlier with the number chances created throughout the game.

Lewis Ferguson helped Aberdeen take the lead from a corner in the 17^th minute. It took Celtic until the 93^rd minute to put away one of the many chances created with Griffiths’ header rescuing a draw for the Hoops.

Both sides started with intend but it was the home side who managed to capitalise on the pressure they exerted on Celtic. Two early Aberdeen corners were comfortably dealt with but Stephen Glass’ side took the lead with their third corner in the 18th minute. Andrew Considine rose high to direct the ball towards the far post where Lewis Ferguson knocked it in.

Celtic responded by upping the pressure and managed to create a series of good opportunities in front of goal. They almost drew level moments after conceding when a quick one-two between Odsonne Edouard and Jonjoe Kenny saw the Frenchman with the ball at his feet inside the box but he steered his right-footed shot wide of the post.

Edouard was on the end of another great chances minutes later which saw him slide in to try and redirect Turnbull’s excellent curling cross beyond the keeper but he could only stab the ball straight into the hands of Gary Woods.

Edouard was a constant thorn in the side of the Aberdeen defence throughout the first half but Aberdeen were fortunate that Celtic were not more clinical in front of goal.

The home side managed to create a couple more chances with Ferguson forcing a good save from Bain and McGinn hitting the side netting after a counter attack.

Celtic were by far the more attacking side and were denied a goal shortly in the 38th minute. The Hoops broke away in possession and Edouard tried to curl the ball around the keeper but Woods saved with his feet.

Edouard was then wrongly ruled off-side just before the break after rounding off a good passage of play in the final third with a side-footed shot into the bottom corner.

Celtic picked up from where they left off following the restart and came close to equalising seven minutes into the second half. Edouard headed the ball down and into the path of Turnbull but the midfielder hit the crossbar from close range.

Aberdeen found themselves pinned on the edge of their area as Celtic moved the ball around in search of an opening but the home side were organised and closed the spaces quickly.

Stephen Glass’ side did threaten on the counter attack with Ferguson hitting the outside of the post and Bitton nearly putting the ball in his own net after sliding in to intercept a cross into the six yard box. Hayes had perhaps the best opportunity to double Aberdeen’s lead when he broke away and found himself one-on-one with Bain but McGregor did well to make up the ground and prevent him from getting a shot off.

Celtic continued to press for a goal as the final whistle approached but it looked if Aberdeen would ride their luck and manage to take all three points. That was until the dying seconds of the game when Griffiths headed in Elyounoussi’s cross with what transpired to be the final touch of the ball.
