Celtic made it six from six this afternoon (Saturday) with a devastating 6-0 display against St Mirren at Paradise. First half doubles from Liel Abada and David Turnbull saw the Hoops enter the break with a four-goal advantage, during a half of football which saw the visitors reduced to 10 men, after Alan Power was shown a straight red with 20 minutes on the clock.

Edouard made it five not long after the hour, before Turnbull secured his hat-trick with six minutes of normal time remaining.

The Hoops started well, passing from the back and pressing the game aggressively as per manager Ange Postecoglou’s signature style.

On six minutes, Ralston fed a lovely through-ball down the right flank into the path of Abada whose cut-back found Turnbull on the edge of the opposition box. He struck his effort to the keeper’s left but was denied by the upright.

This appeared to set the tone for the afternoon as the Hoops continued to push the visitors deeper and deeper with each wave of attack, and, after a flurry of half-chances in the opening quarter-hour, broke the deadlock on 17 minutes. The tireless Liel Abada was the scorer when he glided in from the right to fire beyond the keeper with his left foot.

Three minutes later and St Mirren were reduced to 10 men when Alan Power was a shown a straight red card for a reckless tackle on Turnbull. One minute after that again and Abada grabbed his second of the day – this time converting with his head following a chipped byline cross from Greg Taylor at the byline.

Celtic continued to turn the screw in the final third before, ahead of the half-hour mark, Turnbull got his first of the day. No sooner than a minute after St Mirren had a goal ruled out for offside, did the midfielder unleash a thunderbolt from 20 yards which left Alnwick no chance between the sticks.

Two minutes later and Kyogo could, and likely should, have made it four when he sent a dangerous Abada cross well high of the target from two yards out.

On 37 minutes, Edouard hit the top of the crossbar with a flicked effort from six yards, before dragging a shot just wide of the mark two minutes after that again.
