The Celtic B Team take on Annan Athletic in the SPFL Trust Trophy this evening (Wednesday) at the Penny Cars Stadium in Airdrie. Tommy McIntyre will name his full starting XI ahead of kick-off, but the manager has confirmed that Hoops first-team star Liam Shaw will play.

Former Sheffield Wednesday man Shaw signed at Paradise in the summer and while yet to make his competitive debut for Ange Postecoglou, the 20-year-old Englishman impressed throughout the club’s pre-season tour of England and Wales.

Tommy McIntyre’s side go into this evening’s cup tie on the back of three straight league wins, and the manager is now looking forward to a different challenge against Annan, as well as bringing a player of Shaw’s experience into the fold.

He told the official Celtic website: “Liam is a great addition to our team. It’s always good when you can bring in first-team players, particularly someone of Liam’s calibre.

“It gives everyone a boost as well, and I think that’s important for the squad as a whole but particularly for our younger players – to be involved and to be circulating themselves around first-team players whenever one or two come down to play.

“Liam’s coming in for game-time, which we understand as well, and that can give everybody a lift.”
