Scott Robertson was among the peripheral first team players who entered Tommy McIntyre’s Celtic B Team starting XI for last night’s SPFL Trust Trophy tie against Annan Athletic, with the midfielder netting the second in a confident 2-0 win.

The Hoops dominated from start to finish and while made to wait until the 73^rd minute for their second goal, Robertson was delighted to help contribute and record a full 90 minutes on the pitch.

“It was great to get some minutes into the legs, I’ve not had a lot of game time this season so it was great to get the 90 minutes,” the 20-year-old told Celtic TV after the match.

‘I’m a midfielder but I don’t think I get enough goals, so it was good to get on the scoresheet.’

“In the second half, I think we maybe got a little bit sloppy and that’s down to us. But it was good to the get the goal when we did and kill off the game.

“For the goal, I took the ball off Shawsy and the defender has pulled me down, played a quick one-two with the big man (Dawson) and managed to put it away. It’s good to hear the manager was pleased with the goal.

“Again, at times I thought we were a little bit sloppy for our standards, but when we did get the ball down, we passed it fast and I thought the opposition found it difficult to live with us.”

Last night's win sees the Celtic B Team face Greenock Morton in the second round of the SPFL Trust Trophy - scheduled to be held on the weekend of September 4/5.
