Neil Lennon said he was pleased with the attitude his players showed in their 2-0 win against Hamilton Accies at Celtic Park.

Celtic secured a comfortable victory against Hamilton as they returned to winning ways with a dominant performance against Brian Rice’s side.

After drawing 2-2 with Livingston last week, Celtic showed their manager the kind of performance he was looking for as they immediately set about dismantling their opponents.

Leigh Griffiths gave Celtic the lead in the 11th minute with a wonderful strike from distance. Hamilton found themselves under constant pressure throughout the first half and only a series of good saves and last-ditch blocks prevented them from falling further behind.

Celtic got the second goal they had been searching for early in the second half when Odsonne Edouard finished well from Griffiths' assist.

Speaking to Celtic TV after the game, Neil Lennon credited his players for their display and said Celtic would look to replicate that when they faced St Mirren at Paradise on Saturday (January 30).

“It was a very good, very positive performance,” said the Celtic manager. “We missed a lot of chances. I thought we could have racked up a few more. There was a good attitude from the players and good quality football. It was a good all-round team performance and a lot of good individual performances as well.

“We broke the lines a lot of times and a good effervescence with the way we passed the ball and moved. I’m delighted. I don’t know how many attempts we had on goal tonight but it would have been well over 20 so it was a very good performance.

'We’ll take it from here to the St Mirren game here on Saturday. They had a good result tonight so it won’t be easy but we’ll be looking forward to the game.'

Griffiths and Edouard were a constant threat for the Hamilton defence and Neil Lennon was pleased to see the pair working well together along with the Hoops midfield.

“They haven’t played that much together this season but when they play together they’re very good,” he said. “Both of them scored tonight.

“I thought Elyounoussi complemented them quite well and I thought McGregor, Soro and Turnbull were excellent in midfield. It was a very comfortable performance and I really enjoyed the game.”
