Steve Clarke has named six Celtic players in his 26-man Scotland squad for Euro 2020 which will take place this summer.

Scotland will play in a major tournament for the first time since World Cup 98’ in France thanks to their dramatic penalty shoot-out win over Serbia in the European Qualifier Playoffs in November last year.

Celtic midfielders Callum McGregor and Ryan Christie were key figures in the crucial game with McGregor assisting Christie for Scotland’s only goal before the tie went to penalties.

Steve Clarke has unsurprisingly named both of the Hoops stars in his 26-man squad. The pair have 47 caps between them with McGregor on 29 and Christie on 18.

Celtic’s David Turnbull has impressed in his first season in the Hoops having scooped the club’s Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year Awards before receiving the PFA Scotland Young Player of the year Award. Steve Clarke has rewarded the 21-year-old for his performances during the 2020/21 season with a place in the squad for the Euros.

James Forrest has missed much of the season through injury but the Hoops winger hit the ground running upon his return last month. He will have the chance to add to his five Scotland goals after Steve Clarke included him in the squad.

Two Celtic defenders have also been named in the Scotland Squad for Euro 2020. Greg Taylor already has four caps to his name and is part of Steve Clarke’s squad. The sixth Hoops player included is Jack Hendry who spent the 2020/21 season on loan at Belgian side KV Oostende.
