Celtic FC Women's manager, Fran Alonso said there’s still a buzz in the camp after their semi-final win, but the squad are fully focused on Sunday’s match against Aberdeen at the Penny Cars Stadium (KO: 2pm).

Speaking ahead of the game, the Hoops boss said: “It’s been a good week of preparation ahead of Aberdeen. It’s a totally different environment when you’ve just won a very big game. Everyone is happy, everyone is smiling and there’s better fight for positions."

Alonso said everyone was very proud of the achievement in reaching the first cup final of the season, where Glasgow City await next month, also emphasising that, while it was important to enjoy the moment, now the focus is on the league.

“I expect a lot of fight, quality and desire from my players, which normally they deliver," he said.

“Getting three points is the most important thing but we want to put in a good performance too, especially at the Penny Cars Stadium where we’ve failed to win the past two games – which was a bit of a shock to us after the amazing run we had.”

And the manager added: “They are a good team. Obviously they are new, so some games they might lack a bit of experience to close the games because they’re a very young team, but they are brave.

If we play our football, then hopefully we’ll get the win like we did in our first game against them.”

Celtic’s previous meeting with Aberdeen was away from home on the opening day of the league, when the Hoops won 4-2.

And there is some positive news on midfielder Sarah Harkes, who has already completed a full training session and is available for selection.

“We don’t know yet if we’ll put her in the squad straight away," said Fran Alonso, "although she’s ready to play. Rebecca McAllister is in the last stages of recovery and Natalie Ross is getting closer. The rest are all fit and ready to hustle for a position in the squad.”
