Celtic FC Women’s Captain, Kelly Clark reached a very impressive milestone today (Sunday) when she made her 200^th appearance for the club, leading out the team against Partick Thistle in a league match at the Penny Cars Stadium, Airdrie.

And the Hoops marked the occasion with an impressive 6-0 victory, the goals coming from Charlie Wellings with a hat-trick, a strike from Kathleen McGovern, and first goals in Celtic colours for María Ólafsdóttir Gros and Shen Mengyu.

Kelly Clark has been with Celtic for eight years, and speaking about joining the 200 club, the 27-year-old defender said: “To have played for this fantastic club for so long and now to make my 200th appearance is unbelievable.

'I would never have believed back in 2013 when I joined the club that I would be here today having played so many games in the green and white Hoops, and it has been a privilege to represent the club for so long.'

Kelly started playing football in her local town of Arbroath as a six-year-old, and her parents had to fight to get her a place on the school football team. From then on, football has been Kelly’s sporting passion.

“I knew from a very young age I wanted to be a footballer,” she said. “I never watched the men’s game and thought it was something I couldn’t do, but to do it for so long at Celtic has been a dream come true and I’d like to thank every one of my team-mates past and present and all the coaches who have helped me along the way. Without them, I could never have got this far.”

Kelly led the team to their first ever Champions League qualification, finishing second place in last season’s league campaign but she has one more dream left to be fulfilled at the club, as she explained.

'I’ve been Celtic captain and I’ve played at the highest level but I would love to lift a trophy before I decide to hang up my boots.'

"With this group of girls and under the coaching of Fran Alonso, that’s the next target.”
