The Celtic B side got their week off to a good start, putting themselves on the front foot in this week’s double-header against Cumbernauld Colts with a 2-0 victory at Broadwood Stadium on Monday night.

And within 90 seconds of kick-off, the young Hoops took the lead when Owen Moffat converted a Bruno Davidson ball into the box from close-range.

From there, Tommy McIntyre's side continued to take the game to their opponents, dominating possession and looking to extend their lead, with Davidson dangerous on the right flank, though unlike his first ball into the box, further deliveries into the area were not capitalised on.

Just after the half-hour mark, captain Bosun Lawal tested the Cumbernauld Colts goalkeeper with a header from a Mackenzie Carse free-kick, but it was well held by the keeper.

At the other end, Celtic stopper, Tobi Oluwayemi, dealt comfortably with a rare shot on target from the home side.

After the break, Cumbernauld pushed forward in search of an equaliser but, again, Oluwayemi was on hand to deal with the efforts from distance.

And on 57 minutes, Bruno Davidson doubled Celtic's lead, latching on to a Ben Wylie ball and angling his strike into the net. It was no more than Davidson and Celtic deserved for their efforts, with the Hoops comfortably seeing out the match.

The sides meet again this Saturday, October 30at the Penny Cars Stadium in Airdrie (KO: 1pm)
