A stunning first-half performance provided Celtic with the foundation to go on and beat Hibernian 3-1, the first time the Hoops have won at Easter Road in the league in almost eight years.

Right from the first whistle, Ange Postecoglou’s side took the game to their hosts, with Tom Rogic proving almost impossible to mark, certainly legitimately, with Alex Gogic fouling the Australian on a number of occasions.

And it was from one of those free-kicks awarded that Celtic took the lead after nine minutes. David Turnbull delivered a dangerous ball into the box from the inside-right position and Anthony Ralston was on hand to head the ball low into the net.

It was a superb start for the Hoops, and it got even better just four minutes later when Carter-Vickers made it 2-0 with his second goal in Celtic colours.

Again, Turnbull was the provider, this time from a corner, with the American defender steering his shot beyond Matt Macey in the Hibs goal.

Celtic were in full flow now and Turnbull fired a left-foot shot into the side-netting on 19 minutes.

Eight minutes later, the Hoops carved Hibs open again, with Kyogo combining well with Mikey Johnston, who was making his first start of the season, but his ball across the six-yard box just evaded the Japanese striker and was scrambled clear.

But Kyogo was not to be denied for long, and on the half-hour mark he slotted the ball home from a Jota cross for his 10th goal of the season following another great move.

And only a great Macey save four minutes later denied Kyogo his second and Celtic their fourth of the night.

On a rare foray forward for the home side, however, they managed to reduce the deficit, with Ryan Porteous bundling the ball home inside the six-yard box from a corner.

First-half masterclass fires Celts to victory at Easter Road
