Celtic shared four goals with Cumbernauld Colts in the Scottish Lowland League after a pulsating game at the Penny Cars Stadium in Airdrie, which saw captain Bosun Lawal sent off near the end of the game after picking up a second yellow card.

Tommy McIntyre’s side tested Alexander Marshall in the Colts goal in the first minute through a corner kick but Lawal fouled the Cumbernauld Colts defender in the process.

At the other end, the visitors had an effort from 18 yards out that went just narrowly wide of Ryan Mullen’s top right-hand corner.

The Hoops got the breakthrough on 11 minutes through Rocco Vata. The young Irishman collected the ball from Paterson on the byline and fired a shot into the net from a tight angle.

And having taken the lead, Celtic looked to extend their lead, with Brody Paterson’s shot in 18 minutes pushed wide by the keeper.

Vata and Paterson were causing Cumbernauld Colts lots of problems, with Paterson coming close to converting Vata’s shot across the six-yard box.

Just after the break, Ben Wylie had a good chance for the Hoops, but his shot from the penalty spot was deflected wide for a corner.

In the second half, Ben Wylie was unlucky to not get the Hoops ahead. Bruno Davidson crossed into the box to find Wylie on the penalty spot but his shot was deflected away for a corner.

Lawal picked up his first yellow card of the afternoon on 67 minutes for a challenge, and from the resulting free-kick, Cumbernauld equalised through Stephen O’Neill.

Seven minutes later, Celtic restored their lead when Bruno Davidson’s cross into the box was turned into his own net by Dominic Slattery.

But the Hoops then conceded a goal almost straight from kick-off when Sean Winter fired the ball beyond Ryan Mullen.

And just before the final whistle, Lawal was shown a second yellow card for a soft foul as the young Hoops were reduced to 10 men.
