Speaking about what’s needed in these cup contests, the 34-year-old said: “It’s an important game but every game has a lot of implications at the moment, so Sunday is no different.

“We are just trying to win each game as it comes, that’s how we got to where we are, because at the start of the season the manager came to the club and that's been his message.

'The manager has made the point of not just to win the game but to stamp our football on the match with our intensity and energy.'

“At the end of the day, if you play in these fixtures you need to have the mindset that it’s just another game and we need to be in the moment to play well and do good for the club that we represent.

“Right now, I’m focused and my game face is on because it’s a huge task at hand and we have to be on it to perform.

“These are the moments where the demand is big and that’s what this club is about and that’s how I like to work."

Sunday will be Hart’s fourth experience of the Glasgow derby, with two wins and one defeat to his name.

He was integral in the previous meeting, a 2-1 win at Ibrox earlier this month, but the goalkeeper believes that the recent encounters will play no part in this weekend's cup tie.

He added: “Football changes quickly. It’s great we are off the back of two wins but we lost the game before that and we didn’t let it affect us.

“It’s a fresh game and against a team in form, so it’s about us imposing ourselves as best as we can.

'I’ve experienced some special atmospheres up here so far and the Celtic v Rangers game is everything that people had hyped to me and more.'

"It’s certainly something that I looked at before I was at Celtic and is talked about as a bucket list fixture.

"It's different when you're involved and playing but they are still very special games.

“Playing at a great venue like Hampden as well, it’s something I’m looking forward to taking part in, but at the end of the day it’s about what we do on the pitch and imposing the tactics we’ve built throughout the year.”
