Mikey Johnston’s appearance from the bench at half-time in the 3-1 win over St Johnstone on Sunday proved to be one of the catalysts for the second-half comeback and improved performance.

It’s a return to the Celtic first-team this season for the Youth Academy graduate, having spent the previous campaign on a loan spell with Portuguese top-division side, Vitoria Guimaraes, helping the team to a sixth-place finish and European football this season.

Having returned for the first time this season in the previous game with Hibernian in October, Johnston is looking forward to facing the Edinburgh side tonight (Wednesday), as he looks to continue to improve on his recent displays.

He said: “Anyone who has made the jump to go abroad where you can’t speak the language is really tough.

“The football is different to what I have been used, to so to be able to go over there and do well and come back and make an impact is amazing.

'I’m playing at a massive club and people will ask questions if you’re not performing every week.'

“I think I have the tools now to deal with it a lot better than I did when I was younger. It’s about doing it every week and building the trust of the manager.”
