Three first-half goals gave Celtic FC B Team all three points in their Lowland League clash against Open Goal Broomhill today (Saturday).

Joey Dawson opened the scoring on the 29th minute, with Adam Brooks doubling the lead less than two minutes later. It was just before the break that Dawson got the third, making it six goals in three games for the striker.

The first chance came after just four minutes when Ewan Otoo sent a dangerous ball straight across the face of the goal. However, it wasn’t to be as Dawson just missed out on the tap-in from the back post.

For the following 20 minutes the Hoops continued to dominate possession with patient build-up play.

On the 29th minute, Brooks sent a curving ball in and Dawson made sure not miss this time as he was perfectly placed to knock it in and give Celtic the lead.

Just two minutes later, the Hoops found themselves on the attack again. The ball landed at Brooks’ feet in a crowded area and he made no mistake in seeing it home from close-range.

Although 2-0 up and comfortable in possession, Celtic were looking to further extend their lead, and the third goal of the game came just before half-time.

Much alike the opener, Brooks crossed the ball into the box and it was Dawson once again at the back post, sealing his brace on the 42nd minute.

After an action-packed 45 minutes, the second half brought less action and fewer clear-cut chances.

Josh Clarke was called upon on the 47th minute as Open Goal Broomhill won a free-kick just outside of the Celtic box. The low strike proved to be no issue for the English keeper as he was quick to the ground to maintain the clean sheet.

Ben Summers and Ben Quinn were causing the home side problems, although Celtic were unable to add to their goals tally despite creating a number of chances.

Another chance came on 78 minutes as Brooks made a threatening run down the right-hand side, using his strength to hold off the opposition, but his shot from a tight angle was saved by the keeper.

There was to be no further scoring in the game and the Hoops took all three points with the 3-0 win. Next up for Celtic is a home game against Gala Fairydean next Saturday (January 14) at the Excelsior Stadium.
