It was another impressive display from the Celtic FC Women’s squad as they picked up three points with a 3-0 victory over Hibernian on Sunday.

After making a quick start to the match, the Hoops went on to control proceedings throughout, putting in a strong performance at the Excelsior Stadium.

The Celts also continued their impressive defensive form, keeping a clean sheet and limiting Hibs to very few opportunities in front of goal.

Captain Kelly Clark has played a major role as part of the Hoops backline, and she was awarded Player of the Match for her performance in the win.

Speaking to Celtic TV after the match, Clark praised her team-mates for their clinical edge in attack, talking up just how enjoyable it is to play as part of this team.

“I thought it was a dominant performance from start to finish and we controlled the game all the way through," she said.

“We maybe didn’t create enough chances, but at the same time I felt like we really limited Hibs to very little.

‘Overall, it was a deserved three points. It was a performance and result we wanted ahead of Thursday night.’

“It’s such an enjoyable team to play in,” she continued, “especially as a defender because you don’t have as much to do!

“Massive credit to the girls. Although I felt we could have created a little more, the ones that we did create, we took. The first is an absolute belter of a goal from Amy Gallacher. So it was the ideal start to the game to put us 1-0 up.”

Sunday’s victory now means that each team has played their first five post-split fixtures, with the reverse games to come during May.

In those opening games, the Celts picked up 13 points from a possible 15, being held to just one draw.

Reflecting on those opening post-split games, Clark said: “After the first five games I feel like we have performed very well so far We’ve won four games and had one draw, so we are very much on track for where we want to be.

'We've done our job in the first five games, and now we’ve got a job to do in the second five, so it’s important we continue to do that.'

Following on from the win against Hibs in Airdrie, the Ghirls are quickly back in action this midweek as they take on Glasgow rivals Rangers.

It could prove to be a huge game at the top of the SWPL, and Celtic go into this one full of confidence after a fantastic recent run of form.

The Celtic captain is well aware of how big an occasion it could be, as she spoke about the importance of recovering ahead of Thursday evening.

“Thursday night is a massive game," she said. "It’s the games that you want to play in as a Celtic player.

“We’ll go and recover from this game, and then get ourselves prepared both mentally and physically for the game on Thursday night.”
