It’s been a season of incredible standards and consistency for Ange Postecoglou’s side with only seven points dropped in the Premiership and over 105 goals scored along the way to becoming champions.

The manager praised the team for embracing the high expectations placed upon them. He said: “I think it's fair to say that the expectations are always there and I think even from last year, the lads embraced that, particularly now it's such a new group.

“Within that context, I think we built a really strong set of values and a strong culture last year, which I think fed into this year where the boys understood that if we were to replicate what we did last year, that wouldn't guarantee us anything.

“If we improved on last year, that would give us a great chance of success, and I think I said after the game, I don’t think there’s been a moment this year where I've had to intervene and sort of get them back on track.

“In that sense, they've driven it themselves, and it's a credit to them.”

On Saturday, June 3, the champions will be aiming to make it a full house of domestic trophies and the fifth Treble in seven seasons. That would be an eighth domestic treble for the club which means they would stand alone with the world record should they defeat Inverness CT.

Ange Postecoglou spoke of the team being focussed for what lay ahead, and said: “We've worked hard for that, and you want to put yourself in that sort of space where you can achieve special things.

“It's fair to say that the whole group has really been determined to make sure that we tackle every week as a separate entity, not look too far ahead.

‘Because of that, we've put ourselves in this position. Now we've got two trophies and the opportunity to get a third.’

“Because of that mind-set, I know the boys won't be thinking about the cup final today. They'll be thinking about the game at the weekend and making sure that they're ready for that.”

In winning the title, Celtic automatically qualify for the UEFA Champions League group stage for next season. The boss highlighted his delight at the opportunity to take Celtic into the elite level of European football once again. He said: “It's great. It's vitally important.

“I think I said this year that for us to sort of improve at Champions League level you are part of that formula.

“You see it with other clubs. It is to be there consistently because nothing beats the experience of playing against the best measuring yourself. That's how you get improvement.

“This season, it was a big task for us as we hadn't been in it for quite a while. It was a first experience for the majority of the boys.

“So, if you can keep being on that stage, that's how you make gains. I’ve got no doubt that next year we will have learned from last year and try and bridge that gap between us and the best clubs in Europe.”
