After winning all nine of their domestic fixtures, the Celts have been successful in finding their way to victory so far this campaign.

From emphatic victories, to fighting from two goals behind, Fran Alonso and his squad have made a fantastic start to the season.

And they maintained that perfect record on Thursday evening, this time, finding a way to goal in stoppage time to seal another important three points against Glasgow City.

After the Hoops going ahead with 20 minutes to play through Chloe Craig, the away side levelled up the scoring as the game looked to be heading for a draw.

However, up-stepped Colette Cavanagh to score the all-important winner in the dying stages, sending the entire Celtic squad and support into joyous celebration.

Speaking to Celtic TV in the immediate aftermath of the match, the midfielder praised her team-mates for their effort levels after fighting until the last minute for the victory.

Admittedly, the 24-year-old hasn’t scored too many late winners during her career, so she was delighted to do so at the Excelsior Stadium.

She said: “It was definitely a rollercoaster of emotions. It was such a brilliant performance from the girls and credit to every player, they stepped up.

“Especially when Glasgow City were down to 10 players. I thought the team played so much better and really took advantage of being a player up.”

“The goal all happened so quickly,” Cavanagh explained. “I just had to swing my right foot at it. Obviously it’s not my strongest foot.

'So I just swung at it, and hoped for the best. It was great to celebrate by looking at the fans.'

“It was special – I’m just buzzing. I don’t think I’ve scored many last-minute winners, so it was definitely a special moment.”

After conceding with just 13 minutes remaining, it could have been difficult for the Celts to bounce back, particularly going up against a 10-player Glasgow City side with something to hold on to.

However, Fran Alonso’s side continued to battle and finally found a winner as the game entered stoppage time.
