Celtic FC Women kicked off the month of February by getting back to winning ways on Sunday afternoon, defeating Hamilton Accies 6-0.

Victory at New Douglas Park sealed the Hoops’ place in the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup and also got Elena Sadiku off the mark with her first win as Head Coach.

Natalie Ross’ first-half hat-trick sent the Celts well on their way before Chloe Craig and Caitlin Hayes added to the scoring alongside an own goal.

It was a dominant display in tricky conditions as the Ghirls started what is set to be a busy week with a win in South Lanarkshire.

Speaking to Celtic TV in the aftermath of the result, Elena Sadiku expressed her delight at her squad’s overall performance.

After a strong week of training, the Swedish coach is now looking forward to working alongside her squad as they aim to continue building momentum.

She said: “I feel like we controlled the game from start to finish. We may have started a little bit slowly in the first half, but we put in a good performance.

“Like I said before this game, I said that we wanted to create a lot of goal-scoring chances and we did that this afternoon (Sunday).

“Hamilton didn’t have any shots on goal either. So it was mission complete today!

‘I said ahead of the game, we put in one of our best training sessions that I have seen us have so far.’

“I think those new standards are going to put us into a higher position than we were before and I am really looking forward to what is ahead of us now.”
